Mulu (2-5 August 2017)

Before I forget all the details about my Mulu trip, here goes. Bought the tickets to Miri about a year ago (yes a year!), got it for about RM20+ (return ticket KL-Miri-KL), dan harga tiket untuk Miri-Mulu-Miri (MASwings) RM261.32/pax. We stayed at Mulu Village (booked through www.booking.com) because the dorms at the Park HQ were fully booked and the rooms were quite expensive, so we decided to stay at Mulu Village for RM240 (4 nights). It wasn't until May 2017, I started to search for packages, I sent an e-mail to the Park HQ and they actually responded quite fast with all the details with prices. Memandangkan ini pertama kali trip ke Mulu, dan tak berapa pasti package apa yang sesuai, so I sent an e-mail to Mulu Village kalau2 dia orang ada pakej yang sesuai, lebih mudah ambik pakej sekali dengan tempat penginapan. FYI, di Mulu Village cuma provide breakfast, lunch and dinner kena pandai2 cari sendiri.

On hiatus

I've been neglecting this blog again. I was not well ever since I came back from Istanbul. I guess it was the weather and the long hour flight. Will be back with pictures from Yogjakarta and Istanbul trip!

Yogjakarta - Part I

So, I finally bought  flight tickets to Yogjakarta. A bit expensive but I have no choice since it's school holidays and that's the only time we (as in me and my son can travel). The first leg is Penang to Kuala Lumpur, last flight out from Penang. I guess we'll be staying at the airport since our flight to Yogja is at 6.30 am. 

Been blog hopping about yogja, since I've never been there and I do not want to make mistakes and waste money and time for not doing a proper research. I actually take some info from each and every blogs that I visited and make decisions on what I want to experience while I'm there.

So, I actually booked three different hotels (yes, three!), The first hotel is at Pawon Cokelat the second is at Benetta House and the third one is at Ibis Adisucipto.  All booked through Booking.com. I wanted to experience three different type of accomodation.  Initially booked a room at Kaliurang which is near Merapi, but was advised by our supir it is too dangerous because it is near to Merapi, well, that's the reason why I booked there, I wanted to stay near Merapi. But I shall not take any risk, do not want to be in the headlines should anything happen. 

As for insurance, as usual , AXA Insurance, Smart VIP at RM26.25/person (online)

Our hotel in Krabi

It was a very last minute plan to Phuket-Krabi-Haadyai This is a special entry about this particular hotel we stayed in Aonang. So, it was our first time to Phuket and Krabi, and since I was incharged of planning the whole trip (e.g hotel and transport bookings), I had to do some research on finding good hotels and reliable transports. Sangat stress especially when deciding where to stay, only had few days to search, do research and book the hotel rooms for us eleven people. As usual, I would use Booking.com and landed on Marina Express Fisherman Aonang,  fall in love the moment I saw the pictures and I tell you the hotel was exactly the same in the picture. The interior was simply gorgeous, too bad we only stayed for one night, it's just next to the mosque and walking distance to pasar malam, restaurants and shops. I dare not say the location is superb but we loved it nevertheless.

Perth - Part III

Caversham Wildlife Park

One of the places I love to go whenever I go to Australia is the Zoo. I've been to Taronga Zoo in Sydney, missed the one in Melbourne when I was there in 2015 because we did not have enough time and this time is the Caversham Wildlife Park in Perth.

Perth - Part II

Lancelin, Cervantes, The Pinnacles

We went sandboarding at Lancelin, my first time and totally loved it. I actually took a lot of pictures but couldnt find it in my camera folders, either I lost it ( I did lost some pictures when we were still there but managed to recover some of it through a software I purchased online). I guess I'll just post whatever pictures I have (except our photos doing sandboarding).  I do not have much information about the board rental price as it was paid for in advance by our agents but you can get it at shops on the way to the sandboarding place. I actually took pictures of the shop but couldn't find it anywhere in my folders. More information about Lancelin here ---> www.lancelin.com.au

Another place that we went to, was Lobster Shack, tak ingat was it before or after Lancelin but we went there on the same day. Menarik because not only we get to eat the lobster but also they brought us to the lobster process place (whatever they call it), very educational and interesting! Perth - Part I

1-5 September 2016

I think I should write about my trip to Perth before I forget everthing about the trip. It was not a personal trip but  an entourage of about 30 people. I don't  normally go on a trip with travel agents, but this is exceptional. 

It was a 5 days 4 nights trip. We took Malaysia Airlines from Penang-KL-Perth. I would say it was quite an enjoyable trip although we didnt go as far as the Valley of Giant (I've always wanted to go to this place), maybe I'll plan another trip just to drive out from the city.

We stayed at Travelodge Hotel located in the Perth CBD. 

Just a walking distance to halal restaurants, shopping malls and shops. There's also free bus ride stop in front of the hotel. Langley Park is just behind the hotel. We went for a jog there in the morning before out tour starts, and the view was simply mesmerizing. 

I have no complaints about the hotel, the room was spacious for two person, loved it. The buffet spread was generous, but of course you have to choose wisely.

Can't seem to find photos of the hotel, I guess I'll just post some photos around the hotel instead.

Just found out that you can no longer transfer Petronas Mesra Points to Air Asia Big Points. Looks like I have to change to Petron now. You can get Petron Miles Card at any Petron Fuel Station and register the card via sms or online at Petron Miles website.

Medan after seven long years

Medan trip ni dah lama, more than two years ago, tapi saja nak bagi meriah sikit dalam blog, so letak je la few pictures from the trip. Actually trip ni, bukan personal trip tapi bawak gang mak-mak, so trip kali ni guna local agent from Medan untuk ground package. Flight ticket beli sendiri thru Air Asia. Flight dari Penang ke Medan lebih kurang 50 minit, dekat je, macam Penang ke KL. Oleh kerana agak ramai lebih kurang 20 orang, kami gunakan bas, agak selesa untuk kemana-mana cumanya masa agak singkat ke setiap tempat dan ada tempat yang kami nak singgah, agent tak mau bawak with excuses, contohnya Pajak Ikan, katanya masa suntuk tapi realitinya, bila pelancong spend di sini, agent tak akan dapat komisen. Even nak beli kek lapis pun dia tak bawak ke kedai yang kita minta. Boring betul, dia just collect order, masa  nak balik dia akan bagi kek tu. My previous trip to Medan, which was more than 8 years ago (wow, lama gila), masa tu ada kerja di sana, we took a beca and ke kedai kek zulaika, beli sendiri. This time around terpaksala ikut je.

So, some pictures from our last trip, selain di Medan, kami juga ke Berastagi dan Lake Toba. Perjalanan ke Lake Toba agak jauh, tapi the ferry ride was enjoyable.
